Online dating algorithms do make mistakes!

Dating Algorithms

I’d been active on Match.com for several months. Like most single women, I’d been letting the man make the first move toward me by email or a wink. Then it occurred to me that maybe my luck would change if I made the first move. Well, my luck did change in a big way!

Match.com would send a daily listing of men they thought would be a fit for me. I really hadn’t paid much attention to the list until one day “97cab” showed up on my daily listing. I read his profile and decided to send him a wink, which is just a sign that I noticed him. Well, he responded with a great email and it went from there. Who knew that “97cab” would become the love of my life!

But that’s not even the reason for this post. Dating site algorithms aren’t perfect and it’s important to be aware of that.

If I had not made the first move, Geoff and I may have never met. Why? Because I never showed up on his daily listing of women, nor could he even find me when he searched for me. It was as if when he logged in, I didn’t exist.

The moral of this story is: don’t wait for fate to knock on your door. Ladies, it’s okay to make the first move. The love of your life could be just a wink away!

And you just might end up taking all the credit for finding him.
